KKB has become a leader in advising our clients on the labeling and marketing of organic food and personal care products under the National Organic Program (NOP) implemented by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), as well as international governmental and private standards in Europe and elsewhere (e.g., Ecocert, Soil Association). KKB assists our clients in all facets of organic certification, labeling, marketing and advertising. Recently, KKB has:
- Organized and assisted in the international certification of a prestige cosmetic line of products in the US, and two international markets. Each market required separate certifications, presenting unique challenges in order to maintain consistency in labeling and marketing these cosmetic product lines in the global marketplace.
- Assisted cosmetic manufacturers with respect to organic labeling and advertising requirements in order to ensure proper compliance with USDA NOP regulations.
- Assisted a company producing an organic food in developing arguments regarding commercial availability and sourcing.
- Worked intimately with consultants on sourcing organic ingredients and ensuring proper documentation on sourcing, shipping, and utilizing appropriate suppliers.
- Participated in the creation of Organic System Plans for handlers and traders of organic products, and participated in inspections required to achieve certification of those entities.
- Researched laws of 50 states and the District of Columbia relating to registration requirements for facilities handling organic products.
Tom Henteleff was again listed in the 2008 Best Lawyers in America® in the FDA law category.
Once again this year, the firm will act as Santa's elves to help make the holiday season a special time for a local family. Through our collaboration with a local organization, the Children's Law Center (CLC), KKB will collect and donate gifts to one or two families with children. Each child will provide a wish list to CLC, and KKB elves will locate toys, clothing, and gift certificates for the children and family to make it a very special end of 2007. KKB looks forward to continuing to work with CLC in the future, both assisting in custody, guardianship, and adoption cases, and participating in the Holiday Toy Drive
