Bonnie Beavers has been with the firm since 1986. Her practice
focuses on regulation of human drugs, foods, dietary supplements,
medical devices, and cosmetics.
Ms. Beavers’ experience includes negotiations and procedures
involving the Food and Drug Administration, the United States Department
of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Consumer
Product Safety Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the National
Advertisers Division of the Better Business Bureau, the Bureau
of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF - now TTB), and the U.S.
Customs Service. She regularly communicates on behalf of clients
with federal
and
State authorities, as well as with consumers and the media. Her
background includes civil litigation involving seizures and injunctions
by the FDA. She has extensive experience in all aspects of over-the-counter
(OTC) and conventional food products, particularly in formulation,
labeling, advertising and promotion issues, and competitor complaints.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Beavers was engaged in products
liability trial and appellate work. She applies that experience
to advise clients on products liability exposure in addition to
preventing and addressing regulatory problems. Since joining the
firm, she has taught food and drug law classes, published articles
and given speeches on topics of interest to the food and drug bar.
Ms. Beavers previously served as the Federal Bar Association Food & Drug
Subcommittee co-chair. She has provided editorial assistance on
publications of the Food and Drug Law Institute, and has served
on FDLI workshop planning committees and the FDLI Writing Award
committee.
